If you have been following this article series dealing with how to mount a TV on the wall, you should now be in the position where your bracket is attached to the back of your TV set, and the position for the bracket on the wall is marked with pencil. It's now time to start the actual installation process.
How to fasten the LCD wall bracket to the wall
The part of the wall bracket that fastens to the back of the television set itself should already be attached. With the help of a friend, lift the LCD or Plasma TV to the wall and align it with the marks that you made in the previous tutorial. Occasionally an LCD wall mount will sit higher or lower than anticipated. If this is the case make alterations to your pencil markings accordingly. Don't wait until your television is fastened to the LCD wall bracket before you realise that it's at a perilous slope.
Time to hang your television
Your LCD wall bracket should now be attached to the wall, and the other part attached to your television set. The next stage in how to mount a TV on the wall is actually lifting the television set into position on the bracket. This is often the most nerve-wracking part of the operation as you will need to trust your valuable appliance to your own handiwork. You are likely to feel some tension and that is why, aside from the obvious weight and size of a large television set, you should enlist some help in order to maneuver the unit into place.
Before the actual lifting consider your cables. If the bracket you have selected fits close to the wall you might find it easier to plug any cables in before actually lifting it to fasten to the bracket.
With your cables plugged in (if required), take one side of the television and have your friend or relative take the other side. Gently tug on the television to ensure that it feels stable and secure. If it doesn't, check again that the safety tabs are in place, and that all of the screws have been tightened securely.
