Get a great deal on a two-wheel. How can you find that perfect Scooter?

You're sick of riding on four wheels your entire life? Or is it the MTA that gets more expensive and less efficient? Maybe is just the shiny sexy two-wheeled creatures that you can't take your eyes off? Whatever it is - you've made a great choice. Scooters are the best and cheapest way to get around town. But buying a scooter is not easy. There are a few things you should keep in mind before you choose your perfect scooter:

1.    Test Drive - Don't be shy and take the little devil on a ride. Even if it looks like the perfect scooter and it's got that new scooter smell, it might not be comfortable to ride. Just like a car, you can learn a lot about the scooter by taking it for a short spin. See how responsive it is, see how fast it goes, and how many girls are looking at your direction.

2.    Check storage room - and passenger room. Scooters don't come with an awful lot of trunk space. You can't put a hostage in it, that's for sure. But you should be able to fit in a grocery bag at least. Come prepared with a backpack or a normal size somethingy that you tend to carry around with you. Even if you are a loner, you should be able to store an extra helmet and go for a two-seater. You don't want to leave that good looking guy that was checking out your scooter behind.

3.    Miles per Gallon - some of them little bastards can do 100 miles per gallon. You got that right. Try and aim for the best MPG possible. You'll thank yourself for saving that extra trip to the gas station.  

4.    Buy major brands - it's called SYM not SiM. Launderetti is not a production line of Andretti. Don't be fooled to buy a scooter that you didn't hear about, even if the salesman is saying that it's Paris Hilton's favorite

5.    Get a good chain - Scooters are an easy steal. Especially if you get your self a sexy looking two-wheeler. Don't use your kids bicycle chain. The bad guys can cut it with nail scissors. Make sure you buy a trust-worthy chain. It shouldn't cost more than 50-60 bucks and it's sure worth the investment.

6.    And a good insurance - we just said that there's a good chance you'll go to the bank and come back to find out that you are walking home today. Insurance for scooters is really cheap, about 100 dollars a year. Put an extra dime and save yourself some headache in case of a stolen scooter.

7.    Invest in gear - Buy a good helmet. You will thank yourself when it saves your life. If you live in a rainy/dusty/buggy area, you might want to buy a full head helmet that can protect you from rain/dust/bugs. Get a durable coat that has protection and can help other drivers see you better.  

8.    Buy Electric - If you really want to save money, exercise and go green - check out an electric scooter. They can go up to 30 miles per hour and up to 40 miles distance on a single charge. Just like in the good ol' days, the battery will recharge when you go down hill, and you have paddles - just in case.
