Electric Scooter Maintenance
Electric Scooter maintenance is an essential part of keeping you and your scooter safe and happy. Using the correct maintenance will greatly improve the life of your scooter and is therefore well worth doing. Most of the information below is relevant to Electric Scooters but where relevant, can also be applied to Push Scooters.
Tyre Inflation
Small tyres lose air pressure quickly and must be kept inflated to allow the tyre to make proper contact with the surface. This will help prolong the life of both tyre and valve.
Battery Charging
Batteries should be charged frequently. It's best to allow the batteries to cool before charging as excessive heat can cause damage.
Drive Belt Tension
A loose drive belt will allow the teeth to slip and wear excessively. The belt may fail due to the heat generated from improper tension. Please check the manufacturer handbook for details on adjusting your particular scooter.
Lightly Oil and Tighten
Throttle and brake linkages need lightly oiling when they appear dry or show signs of binding. Nuts and bolts should constantly be checked to ensure they are tight and not loose.
Be Careful Where You Ride
Do not ride electric scooters through water, mud or any wet surface. Water can cause failure of the electrical components, and it's therefore best to ensure they are only ridden on dry surfaces.
