Will Electric Folding Bikes Save You Money?
Short answer: they are about the same price-wise as other electric bikes, but in the long term they do save you heaps! Electric folding bikes cost about the same price as non-foldable e-bikes and are usually in the price bracket of $600 to $1,200. Longer term, though, your electric folding bike will help cut costs in other ways.
Suppose you bought a car or motorbike. You're going to be putting up a much higher payment upfront and then spending even more in the future.
Gas prices are just going to keep on heading up. Road taxes for cars, motorbikes and other carbon emitting vehicles are also increasing as governments try to persuade commuters to be environmentally friendly.
Foldable electric bikes are powered by lithium batteries. Assuming that the battery lasts a year, conservatively, you'll save in excess of $1,000 in gas money during that time. Best thing is, you don't need to pay any road tax for your electric bike!
Convenience of Portability and Storage
Electric folding bikes are popular because of their portability. They can be folded up nice and compact and stored away easily.
They are very easy to transport and carry about with you. Just remove the 4 clasps which are connected to the bike and the bike folds into a compact little package that can be carried around easily.
This is definitely a benefit over non-foldable bikes because now you can easily carry your electric fold up bike onto a ferry, train, bus, and car so easily. Weight Considerations
One other important consideration when deciding which electric folding bike is right for you is its weight. Although these ebikes can fold up and be carried about, you should be mindful about how heavy it weighs. You want to avoid lugging around a 65 lb monster with you on the train or bus! Ideally your foldable electric bike should be lightweight and not weigh more than 57 lbs (about 25 kg).
