A toddler first begins to show signs of movement by simply sliding its tiny body in a forward motion. This motion then slowly translates into moving on all fours. Start with the basics: Start with the basics of getting the balance of the scooter right without having to touch your legs down too often. Once you get your scooter moving confidently, take time to learn essential skills like braking, accelerating, cornering and curves. This will prepare you for riding in traffic.
Move on to advanced skills: When you are confident about balancing the scooter right and being able to ride the scooter fluently, the next step is to learn the real riding. Start venturing into busy streets, on the highway, at night and in heavy traffic. Learn to ride handle your scooter confidently in traffic.
Be prepared for Emergency Situations: This is the most important skill which should be taken into consideration. Handling emergencies means you will have to learn how to brake suddenly to avoid a collision or an obstacle, braking while on a curve, coping with skids, riding on uneven surfaces, and handling bad weather/road conditions.
Start enjoying group rides and carrying passengers: Once you have mastered the aforementioned skills, it is time for you to enjoy the real fun of scooter riding.
