Honda Activa - The Scooter of Millenium

Honda arrived in India in 2001 and launched its first scooter here. The first scooter from Honda was the Honda Activa. In India, scooter is the preferred vehicle of middle and lower class families. A two-wheeler scooter is a must-have vehicle for ordinary families in India. Honda focussed in this segment of consumers and introduced this scooter with features having higher load carrying capacity. Though Activa has been a popular scooter for all these years, there was a need of change in style and features of this scooter. A new Activa was launched recently with new front and rear features.

The Hero Activa features make this scooter the ultimate. The front of the Activa was redesigned to have more curves, redesigned lamps and better aerodynamics. On the rear of the scooter, clear lens turn indicators are provided. The overall weight of the scooter was reduced by introducing impact resistant ABS plastic panels.

This New Activa delivers better performance by the presence of new engine. It is equipped with 109cc 4-stroke engine that delivers the maximum power of 8 BHP at 7500 RPM and the maximum torque of 9 Nm at 5500 RPM. However, the capacity of the fuel tank is reduced due to the presence of bigger engine. This scooter is regarded as the ultra reliable due to the better built quality.

One of the unique features is its tuffup technology. Due to this technology, this scooter has tyres which have the double layered tubes with fluid filled in between them. It results in puncture-less drive as it seals the airleakage in case of any puncture.

In addition, there is a combined braking system (CBS), but that is available only in deluxe model. This feature is found in Honda bikes which balances the front and rear brakes. Whenever a rear brake is applied, the CBS applies the front braking force for better balancing.

Other advanced features provided in this scooter include auto and kick start mechanism and the automatic gear transmission with maximum speed of 80 kmph. This scooter is easily maintained as it has very user-friendly features. It has multi-reflector head lamp and the lift-up independent engine cover. Moreover, you can hide your helmet or any other thing at a neatly designed hidden space between seats. This scooter has become taller by 17 mm, its ground clearance remained same at 145 mm.
