Kids Scooters - Top Five Ways to Keep Your Little Ones Safe
So you're thinking of buying your child a kids scooter, but aren't sure how to keep him or her safe while they're on it? Perhaps you've already bought the scooter and they've fallen off it badly enough to make you consider a few safety measures - after all, a skinned knee is one thing; a broken wrist is quite another. You're not alone - millions of parents worldwide ask themselves the same question as their little ones take steps toward independence. So here are five of the best ways to keep your kids safe on the scooters you just bought them for Christmas:
1. Get them to wear safety helmets! These helmets aren't as chunky as they once were - there's no reason for them to walk about with a giant orange stuck on their heads as they ride their kids scooters...
2. Safety pads for the elbows and knees can be really excellent as they zoom along on their scooters. Not only do these pads stop them from grazing themselves, but really good ones are also shock absorbent, reducing the risk of broken bones.
3. Make sure your kids aren't riding their scooters on the streets - educate them in safety and teach them to be very wary of cars.
4. Is your pavement straight? Tell your children to watch out for uneven ground as they fly about on their kids scooter. Just a slight dip in pavement stones can catch the front wheel of a micro scooter and cause your kids to become airborne...
5. The last safety rule is the most obvious. Especially as your kids discover their scooters and what they can and can't do on them, watch them. Make sure you're there when they ride their new scooters and they're much less likely to do something really silly that might cause them to get hurt. You'll also catch any areas of concern before they flip the mini scooter over.
Have fun! Kids scooters are meant to be enjoyed, and remember, falling is part of the learning experience, so if your kids are properly protected, they should be fine on their new micro scooters!
