The Big Red Fest Event is almost here!  If you have been out of the loop, the Big Red Fest Event is on April 3, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the De Portola Wine Trail.  As you may already know, the De Portola consists of nine amazing wineries that each offer unique wines and atmospheres and these include:  Cougar Winery, Oak Mountain Winery, Gershon Bachus Vintners, Keyways Winery, Frangipani Estate Winery, Masia de Yabar, Danza del Sol Winery, Robert Renzoni Vineyards, and Leoness Cellars.  To find out more about the Big Red Fest Event visit http://deportolawinetrail.com/events.php.  For information and ticket sales you can call any winery listed on the site as well as purchase the tickets online or text to winetrail@90210.

The following will give you a glimpse into what each winery has to offer so you can decide which one fits your tastes best!

Cougar Vineyard & Winery:

Created with the idea that this winery should be the one the owners would want to be a part of the Cougar Winery has set itself apart by its Italian Varietals and charming atmosphere.  Some of the unique wine offerings they have are:  Vermentino, Sangiovese, Aglianico, Montepulciano, Primitivo, Malvasia Bianca, Arneis, Pinot Grigio, Sagrantino, Nebbiolo, Brachetto d' Acqui and NegroAmaro.  Also have a glass of the Pink Cougar, the most popular wine choice at the Cougar Vineyard & Winery.

Danza del Sol Winery:

The Danza del Sol Winery offers its guests a glimpse into true hand-crafted wines that are extremely unique to the Temecula Valley Wine Country.  The outdoor patio also has spectacular views of the Temecula Valley and allows you to get a feel for the Temecula Valley wine experience.  Some of the unique varietals offered by the Danza del Sol Winery are:  Gewurztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Cab Franc, Tempranillo, Petite Verdot and Merlot.

Frangipani Estate Winery:

Whether you are looking for an intimate gathering or fun-filled wine tasting tour then Frangipani Estate Winery is just for you!  Already well-known and specializing in red wines, Frangipani Estate Winery offers these great selections:  Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Syrah and Late Harvest Zinfandel, as well as 2001 Cabernet Franc, just to name a few.  Also, the Late Harvest Zinfandel is a foundation vine, which means that it holds the original texture, aroma, and flavor unique to the Frangipani Winery.

Gershon Bachus Vintners:

Gershon Bachus Vintners is the luxury wine experience.  Not only does Gershon Bachus offer appointment-only wine tastings it also personalizes the wine tasting experience with personal attention and fine wines.  Gershon Bachus offers a wide selection of unique wines you will only find at this vineyard including:  Our celebration wine series offers Villa Vino white duet, a blend of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc and the Villa Vino Rosso red duet, a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot. Our GBV 442 White Melange is a blend of Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognet. We offer two red wines in our Wind God series; Zephyrus is 100% Zinfandel and Aquilo is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Keyways Winery & Vineyard:

Keyways Winery was one of the original wineries that established the Temecula Valley Wine Country and is also the only woman owned winery in the Temecula Valley.  With a woman's touch and perspective the Keyways Winery has been transformed into a private wine tasting retreat that reflects the warmth, charm and ambiance of early California.

 

Leoness Cellars:

Leoness Cellars actually translates to "village of dreams" and is the founding principle behind the winery which is to create one-of-a-kind wines in the Temecula Valley Wine Country.  Leoness Cellars prides itself on its attention to its grapes which are concentrated, balanced, and ripe.  The unique and flvaroful wines offered by Leoness Cellars include, but are not limited to:  Viognier, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, White Merlot, Muscat Canelli, and Cinsault Port.

Masía de Yabar:

Masía de Yabar Winery is the epitome of Latin American culture and life and these principles are reflected in the types of wine produced.  The fine wines are enough to get you to visit this winery but Masía de Yabar also offers live entertainment, including Tango and Salsa, as well as great food.  Some of the wines offered here include:  Malbec, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo.

Oak Mountain Winery:

The Oak Mountain Winery defines personal and family-run wineries where every aspect is complete by only the owners of the winery, from grape growing to wine making.  With that said, the wine tasting experience at Oak Mountain Winery truly is a personal experience.  The vineyards are planted to the classic Rhone varieties which include Mourvedre, Viognier, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Zinfandel and Sangiovese Brunello.

Robert Renzoni Vineyards:

Robert Renzoni Vineyards has perfected the grape growing and wine-making process!  The soil at Robert Renzoni was virtually untainted before the grapes began growing.  Terrace selection, soil preparation, density of planting, trellis systems and selection of appropriate rootstock and clones are the cornerstones to the winery's exquisite wines.  The fine wines produced at Robert Renzoni include: Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio and Sangiovese.

 

Come and participate in a fun and exciting experience called "Mapping your way through the De Portola Wine Trail". Enjoy a tasting at one of the participating wineries and receive a map of the De Portola Wine Trail with a sticker on it. As you visit the other wineries on the map, each one will add their sticker to your map. When it is complete with at least 6 stickers, leave it at the last winery and be entered into a monthly drawing. The lucky winner will receive 2 bottles of wine from each winery, signed by the owners or winemakers.
